Admissions

Pewsey Primary School's admissions policy.
Reception aged children
It is important, if you wish your child to have a place at our school, that you apply to the LEA early in the Autumn
Term before the September of the admission year. To do this you need to obtain a standard admissions form, which
we can give you. The form needs to be filled in and sent to Admissions at County Hall, Trowbridge. You should then
receive notification that a place has been reserved for your child.
Pupils other than Reception
Pupils other than Reception, who are seeking admission, also need to complete an admissions form. We will be
delighted to arrange an appointment for you to see our school and discuss your child’s future education. We can also
guide you through the paper work and ensure the forms get to County Hall.
When children first start school
Our school runs a comprehensive induction programme for new children and for their parents and carers. This gives
the children the chance to spend at least three mornings in school with their future teacher during the term before
they start. Pupils other than Reception age starting with us will be warmly welcomed and supported during their first
few weeks. Their class teacher will appoint a ‘buddy’ from the class to look after them while they find their feet.
